The good news is that Ohio State still has to play Michigan St., Penn St., Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan. They stand a very good chance of dropping at least one of those.
Boston College has to play VT, and my money is on Tech murdering them. Florida St. and Clemson are also dangerous.
South Florida has to play Rutgers, Cincinnati and Louisville. And they also have the whole small school stigma, human pollsters are just never gonna believe they're for real, and will not want to see them in the BCS Championship game.
Oregon still has USC, Arizona St. and an Oregon St. team that just beat Cal -- also one of those toss-the-records-out in-state rivalry games.
Oklahoma seems set to run the table, but Oklahoma St. doesn't look like a pushover, also, see in-state rivalry, plus they have the Big 12 Championship game. And their loss came to an unranked team.
LSU beat S. Carolina head to head.
What I'm getting at is that LSU is still in line for the BCS Championship game *IF* they take care of their own business. There *will* be more losses among teams who will now be ranked above LSU. And I really think we're gonna be surprised at how small a drop LSU will suffer because of yesterday. It was on the road against a top-20 team, and it took 3 OTs.
What it's gonna come down to is how LSU responds to the loss. And in my opinion, that really could go either way. I'm not nearly as sold on LSU's toughness and character these days as I was at the beginning. I don't think it's a lock that LSU will "wake up" after this. They also look really tired to me. They could really use that bye week, but unfortunately they've gotta play Auburn first.
But *IF* they do respond well and beat Auburn next week at home, I do think that they'll win out and going into the SEC Championship game, they'll be in line for the BCS Championship game with a win.
Make no mistake about it, we're Saints Fans, tried and true. But we respect all you chicks just like us who know there's more to football than tight ends!

*This* loss by itself didn't sink them.
